About the work
This 1-fascicle text is 淨源 Jìngyuán’s sub-commentary and supplementary explication on 法藏 Fǎzàng’s [[KR6e0090|Wàng jìn huán yuán guān]] (T1876) and on the (now-lost) earlier Tang sub-commentary on it. The bǔjiě 補解 “supplementary explication” format indicates that Jìngyuán is filling in gaps in the earlier commentarial tradition rather than providing a wholly new commentary.

Abstract
The bracket adopted here (1067 – 1088) reflects the period of 淨源 Jìngyuán’s mature editorial activity. Together with his [[KR6e0091|Huán yuán guān kē]] (X993), the Bǔjiě completes Jìngyuán’s editorial-commentarial work on Fǎzàng’s contemplative text — re-establishing the Huán yuán guān as a foundational text in the Sòng Huáyán curriculum. The work was widely studied in subsequent Sòng-Yuán-Míng Buddhist contemplative practice and was carried to Korea and Japan as part of the standard Huán yuán guān study apparatus.
The work is preserved in the Manji Xù zàng jīng (X994) collection.
