Huáyán huán yuán guān kē 華嚴還源觀科
Sectional Outline of the Huáyán Contemplation of Returning to the Source by 淨源 (Jìngyuán, 刊正 / editorially-corrected)
About the work
This 1-fascicle text is the structural-outline (kē 科) for 法藏 Fǎzàng’s [[KR6e0090|Huán yuán guān]] (T1876), edited by the great Northern-Sòng Huáyán-school revivalist 淨源 Jìngyuán (1011–1088). Like Jìngyuán’s other kē outlines (cf. X1418 for Chéngguān’s Shū), the work serves as a navigational map for the parent contemplative-doctrinal text.
Prefaces
No formal preface; the work opens with the title-line and Jìngyuán’s editorial signature.
Abstract
The bracket adopted here (1067 – 1088) reflects the period of 淨源 Jìngyuán’s mature editorial activity at the Huìyīnsì 慧因寺 in Hángzhōu. The kē outline is part of the wider Northern-Sòng Huáyán-school project to reconsolidate the Tang corpus through systematic editorial work; the Huán yuán guān’s contemplative significance for the school made it a natural object of such editorial attention.
The work is preserved in the Manji Xù zàng jīng (X993) collection.

Other points of interest
- Jìngyuán’s editorial work on the Huán yuán guān — together with his sub-commentary [[KR6e0092|Bǔ jiě 補解]] (X994) — re-established the work as a foundational contemplative text in the Sòng Huáyán-school curriculum.
