Zhù huáyán jīng tí fǎ jiè guān mén sòng 註華嚴經題法界觀門頌

Annotated Verse-Hymn on the Title of the Huáyán Scripture and the Contemplation-Gate of the Dharma-Realm by 本嵩 (Běnsōng, 述 / verse-author) and 琮湛 (Cóngzhàn, 註 / annotator)

About the work

This 2-fascicle text combines a verse-hymn (sòng 頌) by 本嵩 Běnsōng on the Avataṃsaka’s title and on the Fǎ jiè guānmén doctrine, with prose annotation by 琮湛 Cóngzhàn. The format — devotional verse plus explanatory prose — was popular in Northern Sòng Buddhist literature, providing accessible material for both monastic recitation and lay study.

Abstract

The bracket adopted here (1080 – 1130) reflects the late-Northern-Sòng period during which the sòngzhù genre flourished. The work is part of the wider Sòng Huìyīnsì Huáyán-school revival project (cf. 淨源 Jìngyuán’s [[KR6e0091|Huán yuán guān kē]], [[KR6e0017|Huáyán jīng shū kē]], etc.), providing devotional-pedagogical material derived from the foundational Tang Huáyán doctrinal corpus.

The Taishō text (T1885) is established on the standard apparatus.
