About the work
This 1-fascicle text by 竺法護 Zhú Fǎhù is the second Chinese translation of the Ugra-paripṛcchā — the same work that [[KR6f0014|Ān Xuán’s Fǎ jìng jīng T0322]] had translated earlier. Zhú Fǎhù’s version is the more polished and authoritative Western-Jìn rendering. The Sanskrit name Yù jiā luó yuè 郁迦羅越 (Ugra) is here transliterated faithfully, while Ān Xuán’s earlier version used the Chinese rendering Fǎ jìng (the Dharma Mirror).

Abstract
The translation belongs to 竺法護 Zhú Fǎhù’s Cháng’ān period (266 – 313 CE). The bracket adopted here reflects this window. The two-translation tradition (T0322 and T0323) provides important comparative-philological apparatus for studying the early Chinese reception of bodhisattva-path doctrine.
The Taishō text (T0323) is established on the standard apparatus.
