About the work
This 1-fascicle text by 支婁迦讖 Lokakṣema is the earliest Chinese version of the Kāśyapa-parivarta — one of the most important early Mahāyāna sūtras and the principal source of the doctrine of bodhicitta and the bodhisattva ideal in early Mahāyāna literature. The Sanskrit original was edited by Stäel-Holstein (1926). The work was incorporated into the [[KR6f0001|Mahā-ratnakūṭa]] as assembly 43 (Pǔ míng pútísà huì 普明菩薩會) — making it among the most widely-transmitted early Mahāyāna texts.

Abstract
The translation is conventionally datable to 支婁迦讖 Lokakṣema’s late-Hàn translation activity, c. 178 – 189 CE. The bracket adopted here reflects this window. The Kāśyapa-parivarta is foundational for understanding the early development of Mahāyāna doctrine; its Lokakṣema translation provides the earliest extant Chinese witness to this material.
The Taishō text (T0350) is established on the standard apparatus.
