This 2-fascicle composite work combines 灌頂 Guàndǐng’s Xuán yì (paralleling Dà bān niè pán jīng xuán yì 大般涅槃經玄義 KR6g0005, T1765) with 道暹 Dàoxiān’s Táng-period Wén jù, edited and combined by the Japanese scholar 守篤 Shutoku. The work documents the Tiāntái-school Nièpán commentary tradition across three centuries and three countries.
Abstract
The bracket adopted here (597–1700) reflects the maximum window from Guàndǐng’s mature period to the Edo-Japanese editorial work.
