About the work
The Fóshuō zhǎngzhě zǐ àonǎo sān chù jīng (T525) is a one-fascicle short sūtra by Ān Shìgāo 安世高 (安世高). It opens the long sub-cycle of “elder’s son” (zhǎngzhě zǐ 長者子, Sanskrit gṛhapati-putra) sūtras (KR6i0155–0181) — narratives about the children of wealthy lay-merchants who become Buddhist devotees.

Abstract
A short avadāna-style narrative on the karmic vexations (àonǎo 懊惱) of an elder’s son in three successive places (rebirths). Translation falls within Ān Shìgāo’s productive period (148–170 CE).
