About the work
The Fóshuō Shēnrì jīng (T535) is a one-fascicle Mahāyāna sūtra by Dharmarakṣa 竺法護 (竺法護). Shēnrì 申日 may transliterate Sanskrit Sundaya or another personal name. The text is closely related to KR6i0164 Yuèguāng tóngzǐ jīng — Shēnrì is the elder, and Yuèguāng is his son.

Abstract
The Shēnrì-Yuèguāng narrative pair (T535 + T534) belongs to the same Indic source-tradition. The doctrinal kernel is the Candraprabha-kumāra prophecy. Translation dated to Dharmarakṣa’s productive period (266–308 CE).
