Shìjiā fó zàn 釋迦佛讚
Verse-Praise of Śākyamuni Buddha by 薩穆丹達爾吉 Sàmùdān Dáěrjí (Samten Targye, 譯)
About the work
A one-fascicle Qīng-period Tibetan-Esoteric verse-praise of Śākyamuni Buddha translated by Samten Targye (薩穆丹達爾吉). The text is the Tibetan-Esoteric counterpart to the Táng/Sòng-period anonymous Shìjiāmóunī fó zàn (KR6j0113).
Abstract
The Shìjiā fó zàn presents a Tibetan-canonical stotra (verse-praise) of Śākyamuni in Chinese translation. The text is short and devotional — a standard form of Tibetan-Buddhist liturgical practice adapted for Qīng-court Chinese-language use. The translation dates from Samten Targye’s Qiánlóng to early Jiāqìng career (1736–1820).
