Samten Targye (Tib. bsam gtan dar rgyas) / Sàmùdān Dáěrjí 薩穆丹達爾吉 (Qīng dynasty, lifedates uncertain) — Tibetan-Chinese translator-monk of the Qīng court, with the titles DáLǎmā 達喇嘛 (“Senior Lama”) and Gǎ-bo-chu 嘎卜楚 (Tib. bka’ bcu pa, the second-highest scholastic degree of the Tibetan Geluk monastic curriculum). His Chinese name appears in the Taishō under several variant transliterations: 薩穆丹達爾吉, 嘎卜楚薩木丹達爾吉, 達喇嘛嘎卜楚薩木丹達爾吉, and 達喇嘛薩穆丹達爾吉.
He produced two translations preserved in the Taishō:
- Jí-lè yuàn-wén 極樂願文 (KR6j0107, T19n0935) — a praṇidhāna (aspiration-prayer) text for rebirth in Sukhāvatī, translated from Tibetan.
- Shìjiā fó zàn 釋迦佛讚 (KR6j0114, T19n0942) — a Tibetan-Esoteric verse-praise of Śākyamuni Buddha.
He was contemporary with Gönpojab (工布查布) and Ngawang Tashi (阿旺扎什) at the Qīng-court Tibetan-Buddhist translation establishment, contributing to the late-imperial integration of Tibetan canonical materials into the Chinese-language Buddhist tradition.
