About the work
A one-fascicle Chinese rendering of the Mūlasarvāstivāda bhikṣu-prātimokṣa (249 rules), drawn from the parent Mūlasarvāstivāda Vinaya bhikṣu-vibhaṅga (KR6k0023). Translated by Yìjìng (義淨) in the early 8th century. This is the standard recitation-text used in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.

Abstract
The Mūlasarvāstivāda prātimokṣa in 249 rules is the Vinaya of all Tibetan, Mongolian, and Bhutanese Buddhist monasticism — every Tibetan bhikṣu ordained in the Mūlasarvāstivāda lineage uses some Tibetan recension descended from this text. The Sanskrit version is well preserved in the Gilgit manuscripts (Banerjee 1957, 1977). Comparative philological work (Prebish 1975) shows the Mūlasarvāstivāda prātimokṣa to be substantively close to the older Sarvāstivāda (KR6k0017) but with school-specific divergences in several naiḥsargika and pāyantika rules.
