About the work
A three-fascicle verse rendering of the Mūlasarvāstivāda Vinaya, composed by the Indian author Viśākha (毘舍佉 — same person as 勝友 in KR6k0039, the two Chinese names being transliteration and translation respectively of the Sanskrit Viśākha). Translated by Yìjìng (義淨) in the early 8th century.

Abstract
The Vinaya-pīta / verse-Vinaya genre — versified summaries of the rule-content of the parent Vinaya — was a standard pedagogical form in late-Indian Buddhism, designed to facilitate memorisation. Viśākha’s verse-Vinaya is the only extant Mūlasarvāstivāda example of this genre in Chinese, and serves as a complement to his prose Vinaya-saṃgraha (KR6k0039). The two together constitute the Vinaya-mūlasarvāstivāda scholastic apparatus available in 8th-century India and brought back by Yìjìng.
