About the work
A two-fascicle commentary on the Sìfēn bhikṣu-prātimokṣa by Dìng Bīn 定賓 (定賓) of the Xiāngbù 相部 school of Sìfēn Vinaya — one of the three competing Tang Sìfēn exegetical traditions, founded by Fǎlì 法礪 (法礪, 569–635) at the Xiāngbù region.

Abstract
The Xiāngbù school’s interpretation of the Sìfēn lǜ differed in important details from Dàoxuān’s Nánshān and Huáisù’s Dōngtǎ readings, particularly on questions of the relation between the Sìfēn and the Yogācārabhūmi bodhisattva-precept tradition, the requirements for valid upasaṃpadā, and the doctrinal classification of certain naiḥsargika offences. Dìng Bīn’s commentary is the principal extant Xiāngbù treatment of the prātimokṣa. After the eclipse of the Xiāngbù school in the late Tang, the work was preserved primarily as a doctrinal-historical reference.
