Fǎlì 法礪 (569–635) was a Suí–early-Táng Vinaya master and the founder of the Xiāngbù 相部 school of Sìfēn lǜ exegesis, one of the three competing exegetical traditions of Tang Sìfēn studies (alongside Dàoxuān’s Nánshān 南山 and Huáisù’s Dōngtǎ 東塔). Native of Zhàozhōu 趙州 (modern Héběi). His ten-juan Sìfēnlǜ shū 四分律疏 (KR6k0161) is the foundational Xiāngbù commentary on the Sìfēnlǜ, presenting a doctrinal-philosophical exposition of Vinaya distinct from Dàoxuān’s more practical-pedagogical orientation. The Xiāngbù school flourished briefly in the early Tang under Fǎlì and his successor Dìng Bīn 定賓 (定賓) — whose KR6k0163 Sìfēnlǜ shū shìzōng yìjì is the principal Xiāngbù sub-commentary — but was eclipsed in the later Tang by the Nánshān tradition.

Fǎlì’s career intersected importantly with Dàoxuān’s (道宣) generation: both schools claimed Vinaya authority during the Sòng-Dynasty reception of Tang Vinaya, and the Xiāngbù perspective survives partly through the testimony of Nánshān writers. Fǎlì died at age sixty-seven on the ninth year of Zhēnguān (635). Sources: Sòng gāosēng zhuàn j. 14 Fǎlì zhuàn; DILA Buddhist Person Authority A000747.
