Xuěfēng Yìcún 雪峰義存 (822–908): one of the most important late-Táng Chán masters; abbot of Xuěfēngsì 雪峰寺 in Fúzhōu. Dharma-heir of Déshān Xuānjiàn 德山宣鑑. Through his prominent dharma-heirs (Yúnmén Wényǎn 雲門文偃 the founder of Yúnmén-school; Xuánshā Shībèi 玄沙師備 the ancestor of the Fǎyǎn-school), Xuěfēng’s line produced two of the classical Chán Five Houses.
