Other points of interest

The Mìyìnsì 密印寺 on Wéishān is the historic mother-temple of the Wéiyǎng 溈仰 school of Chán, founded under Lìngyòu 靈祐 (771–853) and Huìjì 慧寂 (807–883). By the late Kāngxī era it had been continuously occupied by LínjìYángqí abbots — Dìngliè’s 1669 succession is one such instance. The juan-2 shǒuzuòliáo bǐngfú yǔlù (head-monk-hall whisk-holding records) is unusually preserved at length, providing a rare glimpse of Wéishān’s internal pedagogical structure under post-Pò-shān Línjì administration.
