Jùxiáng 巨翔, zì Tiānyì 天翼 (“Heavenly Wing”); often referred to as Tiānyì Jùxiáng 天翼巨翔. LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Wéishān Gǔméi Dìngliè 定冽 (cf. KR6q0576). Born 康熙壬寅十二月初五辰時 = 1663-01-13 Gregorian; died 康熙乙亥五月初九 = 1695-06-20, age 34, sēnglà 14 (an exceptionally short life). Native of Shǎnxī Línglíng 陵霄 (interior Shǎnxī); lay surname Zhāng 張.
Formation. Sent by parents to Líng-shān-sì 靈山寺 under Jìng-yuè 淨月 for tonsure. At 9 began studying the Śūraṅgama jīng; at the line “qīng-jìng běn-rán, yún hé hū shēng shān-hé dà-dì” 清淨本然云何忽生山河大地 had insight. At 19 visited Xī-shān Téng-huàn 西山藤煥 for full ordination. At 24 sought out Fú-róng-shān Gǔ-méi Dìng-liè 芙蓉山古梅定冽. 康熙二十八年 = 1689 Dìng-liè ordered him into bì-guān at Zǐ-zhú-lín 紫竹林 — there reached great awakening. Received final fù-zhǔ on Dìng-liè’s deathbed.
Abbacies. 康熙三十年 = 1691 entered Tánzhōu DàWéishān Mìyìnsì 潭州大溈山密印寺 (the historic Wéiyǎng home-temple) and Fúróngshān Guǎnghuàsì 芙蓉山廣化寺 — the same two seats his teacher had held.
Disciples. Cángān Fēng 藏庵鋒 = Jìfēng 際鋒 (lead compiler).
