Translations and research

  • 蕭志濱 etc.: studies on the Qiān-yán Yuán-chángWàn-fēng Shí-wèi Yuán-Míng-transition lineage have been done in Chinese-language scholarship. The Wàn-fēng line is one of the foundational continuities from late-Yuán Hǔ-pǎo Línjì into the Míng-Qīng Mì-yún Yuán-wù revival, since Mì-yún himself traced lineage back to Wàn-fēng.

Other points of interest

The yǔlù is significant within the Jiāxīng Canon as one of the few Yuán-Míng-transition LínjìYángqí yǔlù preserved alongside the predominantly post-1644 cluster. Wànfēng Shíwèi is the great-grandfather (in the lineage sense) of Mìyún Yuánwù 密雲圓悟 (1566–1642) — the foundational figure of the late-Míng Línjì revival; the unbroken line Qiānyán Yuáncháng → Wànfēng Shíwèi → Bǎocáng Pǔchí → Dōngmíng Huìjǎn → Hǎizhōu Cí → Bàoēn Jìn → Tiānqí Běnruì → Wúwén Cōng → Xiàoyán Débǎo continues to Mìyún and then through the entire late-Míng / early-Qīng LínjìYángqí establishment whose yǔlù fills J27–J40 of the Jiāxīng Canon.
