Late-Sòng / early-Yuán 宋-元 scholar of the Yì and Daoist studies, zì Hànchén 漢臣, hào Shítán 石潭 (“Stone Pool”), of Wǔlíng 武陵 (modern Chángdé 常德 in Húnán). CBDB id 37940. Jìnshì of Xiánchún 4 (1268). Career under late Sòng: Cháofèng dàfū 朝奉大夫, Tàifǔsì bù 太府寺簿 (Court of the Imperial Treasury record-keeper) concurrent with Shūmìyuàn biānxiūguān 樞密院編修官 (Bureau of Military Affairs Compiler). Refused service under the Yuán; built the Shítán jīngshè 石壇精舍 (Stone-Altar Refined Lodge) at Wǔlíng and taught students to his death. Documentary references: Yuánrén zhuànjì zīliào suǒyǐn 元人傳記資料索引 entry 34.
Within the Kanripo corpus he is the author of:
- KR1a0066 Yì xiàng yì 易象義 — a 16-juan systematic xiàng-shù-and-yìlǐ synthesizer of the Zhōuyì (composed 1290–1294 at the Shítán jīngshè), giving the most ambitious late-Sòng / early-Yuán articulation of Yì-imagery-derivation theory. Methodologically distinctive for two systematic taxonomies: a 12-class image-taking framework and a 12-school Yì-tradition taxonomy.
- Co-compiler (with 劉惟永 Liú Wéiyǒng and others) of the major Yuán Dàodé jīng commentary-anthology [[KR5c0113|DZ 724 Dàodé zhēn jīng jí yì]] 道德真經集義 and its introductory [[KR5c0112|DZ 723 Dà zhǐ]] 大旨 (1299–1300). His own commentary on the Lǎozǐ is cited within DZ 724 under the hào “Shítán.”
Disciple. Yú Qīngzhōng 喻清中 is identified as a disciple of Dīng Yìdōng; Yú’s postface to DZ 724 mentions his own collaborative commentary composed with his master.
His scholarly career thus combines Confucian Yì-canonical scholarship (the Xiàng yì, completed 1294) with Daoist textual-tradition compilation (the Dàodé jīng anthology, 1299–1300). The combination is one of the cleaner late-Sòng / early-Yuán sānjiào héyī (three-teachings-one) intellectual integrations.
