Gangō 元杲 (914–995) was a mid-Heian Japanese Shingon master, senior disciple of Junnyū 淳祐 of Ishiyama-dera. He rose successively to the abbacy of Hannya-ji 般若寺, to Tōji chōja 東寺長者 (head of Tōji), and to Dainagon Sōzu 大納言僧都. He resided principally at Daigo-ji 醍醐寺 — the Gankai sub-temple — and was active at the Tōji Hōbodai-in 寶菩提院, the Hirosawa-ryū-aligned doctrinal centre.
His three surviving works in the Kanripo corpus collectively span the principal scholarly domains of mid-Heian Shingon: ritual procedure (KR6t0176 Jù-zhī guàn-dǐng yí-shì, on the fully-equipped abhiṣeka), the Vajra-realm contemplation (KR6t0177 Jīn-gāng-jiè jiǔ-huì mì-jì, on the Nine Assemblies of the Vajra Mandala), and the Garbha-realm exegesis (KR6t0178 Tāi-zàng-jiè sān-bù mì-shì, on the Three Families of the Garbha Mandala). In Shingon lineage genealogy he stands as a bridge between the early-Heian Junnyū systematization and the late-Heian Ningai 仁海 / Saisen 濟暹 / Kakuban 覺鑁 doctrinal florescence.
