Xiāndǔ 先覩

Yuán-dynasty Yángqí-branch Línjì Chán master, hào Wújiàn 無見 (“Without-Seeing”); also Zhēnjué 真覺, Wújiàndǐng 無見頂, and the self-deprecating Xiālǘ 瞎驢 (“Blind Donkey”). Per DILA: born Xiánchún 1.5.6 (29 May 1265), died Yuántǒng 2.5.15 (24 June 1334), shì 70. Native of Tiāntái. Dharma-heir of 文寶 Fāngshān Wénbǎo; dharma-nephew of Gāofēng Yuánmiào 高峰原妙. Co-editor of his master Wénbǎo’s yǔlù (KR6q0328). Lived forty years in solitary practice on Huádǐngfēng 華頂峯 of Tiāntái without descending, cultivating the jùchǎo hermit pattern shared with Gāofēng’s “death-barrier” at Tiānmùshān. Recorded sayings: Wújiàn Xiāndǔ chánshī yǔlù (KR6q0329), first printed in Yuán Zhìzhèng 17 (1357) and republished in the Shùnzhì era (1657).
