Lǚ Běnzhōng 呂本中 (1084–1145), zì Jūrén 居仁, hào Zǐwēi 紫微, posthumously called Dōnglái xiānsheng 東萊先生 (a name later more commonly used for his great-grand-cousin Lǚ Zǔqiān), was a major Northern–Southern Sòng transition classicist, poet, and Lǐxué figure. Native of Shòuzhōu 壽州 (An-huī). Member of the great Lǚ lineage of Lǚ Yīhào 呂夷浩 and Lǚ Gōngzhuó 呂公著 — the same line that produced Lǚ Zǔqiān (1137–1181). Held a sequence of central posts and rose under Gāozōng to Zhōngshū shèrén 中書舍人, Quán Hànlín xuéshì 權翰林學士. Demoted in 1141 over his anti-Qín Huì position; exiled and died there. His major works: the Chūnqiū jíjiě 春秋集解; the Tóngméng xùn 童蒙訓 (KR3a0037, the principal Sòng family-school instructional manual); Dōnglái shīhuà 東萊詩話 (poetic-criticism notebook); Zǐwēi shīhuà 紫微詩話; the Dōnglái xiān-sheng shī jí 東萊先生詩集 (collected poems).
