Taki Mototane 多紀元簡 (also written 丹波元簡; zì Renpu 廉夫, hào Rekusō 櫟窗 / Rekuin Setsusha 櫟蔭拙者 / Keizan 桂山; 1755–1810), Edo-period hereditary physician of the Taki / Tamba 丹波 shogunal medical house. Eldest son of Taki Motonori 多紀元徳 (Ranke 藍渓); grandson of Taki Mototaka 多紀元孝 (founder of the Seijukan 躋壽館 private academy in 1765); father of Taki Genin 多紀元胤 and Taki Genken 多紀元堅. Head of the shogunal Igaku-kan 醫學館 (the renamed Seijukan, brought under direct shogunal administration in 1791 during his father’s tenure) and the principal architect of the late-Edo Japanese kǎojù-medical philological school. Author of the canonical critical commentaries Sùwèn shí 素問識 (on the Sùwèn), Língshū shí 靈樞識 (on the Língshū), Shānghán lùn jíyì 傷寒論輯義 (on the Shānghán lùn), Jīnguì yàolüè jíyì 金匱要略輯義, Màijīng commentary, and the Yī shèng 醫賸 (KR3eq052, c. 1803). His kǎojù-medical method — combining philological rigor, encyclopedic command of Chinese textual evidence, and openness to Korean Yīfāng lèijù 醫方類聚 and Dutch rangaku anatomical findings — set the standard for late-Edo and Meiji-era classical-medical scholarship. He also began the Yījí kǎo 醫籍考 (KR3es003), which was substantially drafted and completed posthumously by his son 丹波元胤 (Taki Motoin). Cataloged under 江戶 rather than the catalog’s 清.
