Miàolún 妙倫
Southern-Sòng Yángqí-branch Línjì Chán master, hào Duànqiáo 斷橋 (“Broken Bridge”), self-styled Sōngshānzǐ 松山子. Native of Huángyán 黃岩 (modern Táizhōu, Zhèjiāng). Per DILA A000470 and the xíngzhuàng appended to his own yǔlù: Jiātài 1.8.17 (22 September 1201) – Jǐngdìng 2.4.25 (1 June 1261), shì 61.
Dharma-heir of 師範 Wújùn Shīfàn (1178–1249); named as one of the fifteen co-editors of his master’s yǔlù (KR6q0315). Held abbacies at Xiānjū 仙居, then at Jìngcí 淨慈 in Lín’ān (whence Jìngcí Miàolún 淨慈妙倫), and finally at several Tiāntái sites (whence Tiāntái Miàolún 天台倫). The Duànqiáo Miàolún chánshī yǔlù 斷橋妙倫禪師語錄 (KR6q0323) preserves his sayings. His principal dharma-heir is Gāofēng Yuánmiào 高峰原妙 (1238–1295), who in turn taught Zhōngfēng Míngběn 中峰明本; Duànqiáo is thus the direct intermediary between Wújùn and the late-Sòng-early-Yuán Línjì mainstream that dominates the tradition’s subsequent history.
