Late-Qīng / Republican-era bibliographer and editor, Xīngrú 星如, of Wúxī 無錫. Joined the Shāngwù yìnshūguǎn 商務印書館 (Commercial Press) in 1907 and became one of the central editors of its Sìbù cóngkān 四部叢刊 project — the great Republican-era reproduction of canonical SòngYuánMíng witnesses. Did extensive 校補 work on Northern-Sòng biéjí and Yuán cóngshū (including the Hénán Mùgōng jí KR4d0015). Also a pioneer of modern Chinese children’s literature; his Tónghuà 童話 series for the Commercial Press introduced Western fairy tales in literary Chinese to a generation of educated readers and influenced May-Fourth-era children’s literature. Author of Zhōngguó diāobǎn yuánliú kǎo 中國雕版源流考 (1916), one of the foundational Chinese-language histories of woodblock printing. CBDB id 76212.
