Zōngyǎn 宗演
Southern-Sòng Chán monk of the Línjì school, styled Huázàng Zōngyǎn 華藏宗演 after his residence at the Huázàng sì 華藏寺 (Línān / Hángzhōu). Active at the turn of the thirteenth century. Wrote the 1205 (Kāixǐ 1 = 開禧乙丑) collating-afterword to the Dàhuì Pǔjué chánshī niánpǔ 大慧普覺禪師年譜 (KR6q0063) originally compiled by 祖詠 Zǔyǒng, into which he introduced sixty-plus emendations based on a manuscript of Yúngái Yúnwò 雲蓋雲臥 (sometimes also transmitted as 江西瑩雲臥), Dàhuì’s attendant during the HéngMéi 衡梅 exile years. Not to be confused with the earlier Yuánjué Zōngyǎn 圓覺宗演 (Northern Sòng, fl. 1120) who edited the Línjì lù (KR6q0053).

Zōngyǎn 宗演 (Northern Sòng / Yuánjué)
A different Zōngyǎn: Northern-Sòng Línjì-school monk, styled Yuánjué Zōngyǎn 圓覺宗演, active early twelfth century. Decisive editor of the received one-juan recension of the Línjì lù (KR6q0053), which he reorganised, expanded, and reissued in Xuānhé 2 (1120) — the point after which the text’s structure is stable and from which all later witnesses (including the Taishō) descend.
