Déshān Xuānjiàn 德山宣鑑
Late-Táng Chán master (782–865), abbot of Déshān 德山 in Lǎngzhōu 朗州 (Húnán). Dharma-heir of Lóngtán Chóngxìn 龍潭崇信. Famous for his teaching-blow (“Déshān’s stick”) and combative pedagogical style. Principal teacher of Xuěfēng Yìcún 雪峰義存 (822–908) and Yáncóng Xuěfēng’s line, through which descend the Yúnmén and Fǎyǎn schools.
