Early-Qīng poet of the Shāndōng Yúyáng circle, Bīnjiāo 賓郊, hào Xiāotíng 蕭亭; native of Zōupíng 鄒平 (Shāndōng). Brother of Wáng Shìzhēn 王士禎’s wife (Wáng’s wife was Zhāng Shíjū’s elder sister), and one of Wáng’s closest poetic interlocutors. Approximate lifedates 1634–1713. A Míng lóyī-cum-Qīng retired figure (his father served in the late Míng and the family withdrew from public office after the dynastic transition); he never sat for the Qīng examinations and remained at his Zōupíng estate. His critical positions, recorded in juǎn 1 of Láng Tínghuái 郎廷槐’s Shīyǒu shīzhuàn lù 師友詩傳錄 (KR4i0059) alongside Wáng Shìzhēn and Zhāng Dǔqìng 張篤慶, emphasize the technical shēngdiào foundations of regulated verse and anchor much of what would become Wáng’s shényùn doctrine. Wáng Shìzhēn collected his poetry as the Xiāotíng shī xuǎn 蕭亭詩選, which he edited and prefaced. Not in CBDB; lifedates per Wáng Shìzhēn’s preface to the Xiāotíng shī xuǎn.
