Zhāng Yǔ 張雨 (1277–1348; catalog meta matches; CBDB gives 1283-1350 — minor discrepancy; the literary-historical preferred is 1277-1348), zì Bóyǔ 伯雨, hào Jùqū wàishǐ 句曲外史 (whence the collection title KR4d0544), also Zhēnjūzǐ 貞居子. Daoist priest at Máoshān / Jùqū. Also author of Yuán pǐnlù 元品錄 (in another section of the catalog). His verse and prose were hand-copied by himself; in his lifetime the kèbǎn (printing) did not happen, so língjiān duànsù (scattered fragments) were preserved by collectors. Míng Chénghuà Yáo Shòu 姚綬 first obtained the gǎo; Jiājìng jiǎwǔ (1534) Chén Yīngfú 陳應符 arranged as 3 juǎn and printed, with appended Liú Jī mùzhì and Yáo Shòu’s xiǎozhuàn. Chóng-zhēn-era Chángshú Máo Jìn 毛晉 added bǔyí 3 juǎn (Wūchéng Mǐn Yuánhéng 閔元衡’s yìshī-collection); Máo and his nephew Féng Wǔ 馮武 searched out further jíwài shī. Early met Zhào Mèngfǔ 趙孟頫; late saw Ní Zàn, Gù Āyīng 顧阿瑛, Yáng Wéizhēn. Middle period extensively exchanged with Yú Jí, Fàn Pèng 范梈, Yuán Jué 袁桷, Huáng Jìn 黃溍 — fāngwài zhī jiāo (outside-the-method, monastic friendship); placed in the literary canon despite his huángguān (Daoist priest) status.
