Xìngshēn 性深, zì Ruòhǎi 若海 (“Sea of Suchness”). LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Liánfēng Sù 素 (b. 1612). Lifedates unknown, active mid-17th century. Lead compiler (děng biān) of his teacher’s yǔlù KR6q0530 《蓮峰禪師語錄》 10 juan, J38 B410. Addressed in juan 6 of his teacher’s yǔlù in a fǎyǔ “示若海深西堂” — i.e. served as xītáng 西堂 (assistant abbot) under his teacher.
DILA registers two further homonyms: Círén Xìngshēn 慈仁性深 (A027398, Cáodòng, dharma-heir of Wénzǎi 文載 / Sōngshān, Míng-dynasty) and others — neither is the editor of this yǔlù.
