Cíháng Zhìyuàn 慈航智願 (also written 慈帆智願) (late Míng)
A late-Míng monk and pupil of the late-Wànlì Pure Land master 古德法師 Gǔdé fǎshī of Yúnqīsì 雲棲寺. He is known principally as the editor and finaliser (dìngběn 定本) of his teacher’s Ēmítuó jīng shūchāo yǎnyì 阿彌陀經疏鈔演義 KR6p0022. The Yǎnyì signs him as 慈帆智願 (with 帆 in place of the standard 航), reflecting the variant orthography used in the source text; the standard form is 慈航智願. Lifedates not securely established. The dìngběn role implies he was an immediate disciple who took over the manuscript and produced the final edition for cutting after Gǔdé’s death.
He is otherwise undocumented in the standard biographical literature.
