Northern Sòng Vinaya scholar Huáixiǎn 懷顯 (also written 惟顯, the form preferred in some catalog meta), hào Chíjìng dàshī 持淨大師, native of Qiántáng 錢塘 (Hángzhōu) and resident of the Xīhú 西湖 monastic milieu during the Zhézōng 哲宗 (1085–1100) and Huīzōng 徽宗 (1100–1126) reigns. The catalog meta gives his name as 惟顯 but the source signatures of his own work consistently read 懷顯 (e.g. the closing list of Vinaya-school patriarchates in juàn xià of KR6k0255 reads “Qiántáng Huáixiǎn lǜshī lì wǔzǔ” 錢唐懷顯律師立五祖). DILA A001078 likewise gives 懷顯 as the canonical form. Per DILA A001078: monk; Chíjìng dàshī; Northern Sòng; the principal datum is his self-preface to the Lǜzōng xīnxué míngjù, dated Shàoshèng 紹聖 1 jiǎxū 甲戌 (1094) at the Fǎhuá lánruò 法華蘭若.
Two works are recorded:
- Lǜzōng xīnxué míngjù 律宗新學名句 (KR6k0255, X1107, 3 juàn) — a Vinaya-school terminological dictionary for novice students, organized by numerical category.
- Qiántáng shèngjì jì 錢塘勝跡記 (5 juàn, lost) — a gazetteer of Hángzhōu Buddhist sites, no longer extant.
