Wéndì (Yáng Jiān 楊堅, 541–604)
Founding emperor of the Suí dynasty (r. 581–604). Patron of the Suí Buddhist establishment at the Dàxīngshàn 大興善 monastery; under his reign Indian translators such as 闍那崛多 Jñānagupta led the imperial translation programme.
