Zhì-huì 智慧 (Skt. Prajñā; fl. c. 1280–1340) — Yuán-period translator-monk associated with the Mǎ-tí Mountain (馬蹄山) translation centre in Gānquán 甘泉 (modern Gansu / Qinghai borderlands). The colophon of his only attested work — Shèng-zhě Wén-shū-shī-lì fā pútí-xīn yuàn-wén 聖者文殊利發菩提心願文 (KR6j0424, T1198) — describes him as 「元甘泉馬蹄山中川守分真師姪智慧譯」 (“Zhì-huì, nephew-disciple of the Yuán dynasty’s Gānquán Mǎtí-shān Zhōng-chuān shǒu-fēn zhēn-shī, who translated [the text]”). The original Tibetan text is attributed in the same colophon to Bākānlè-mùwǎ 巴看落目瓦 — the Tibetan master from whom Zhì-huì received the transmission.
The Mǎ-tí Mountain monastery in Gānsù was a major Yuán-period centre of Tibetan-Chinese Buddhist translation, owing its prominence to the Mongol-court support of Tibetan Sa-skya-pa monastic networks reaching into the Hexi Corridor. Zhì-huì’s identification as a “nephew-disciple” (姪) of an unnamed senior preceptor places him within an Esoteric lineage transmitted through Mǎ-tí-shān; the specific Tibetan Vorlage (an Tibetan Bodhicittotpāda-praṇidhāna text in the Mañjuśrī-cycle) is not securely identified.
Almost no other biographical information survives. He is one of a number of obscure but locally important translators whose surviving works document the Yuán-period Tangut-Tibetan-Chinese translation milieu in the Hexi Corridor.
