Lǐ Chū 李樗

Ruòlín 若林. Native of Mǐnxiàn 閩縣 (modern Fúzhōu 福州). Twelfth-century Shī scholar; lifedates not recoverable. The Sìkù editors note he was a xiānggòng 鄉貢 (“provincial graduate”) nominee but no national-level jìnshì attested. He was the maternal cousin (wàixiōng 外兄) of Lín Zhīqí 林之奇 (per Shū lù jiětí) and a pupil of Lǚ Běnzhōng 呂本中 (per Hé Qiáoyuǎn 何喬遠’s Mǐnshū 閩書).

Author of Máoshī xiángjiě 毛詩詳解 in 36 juǎn, surviving as the principal layer of the joint compilation KR1c0012 Máoshī LǐHuáng jíjiě 毛詩李黃集解 (with 黃櫄). Methodologically he follows Sū Zhé (KR1c0010) on the small preface: only the opening sentence of each descends from a pre-Hàn teacher (he ascribes it to Máo Gōng), the rest being Wèi Hóng’s later supplement. His learning is a synthesis of the Lǚ Běnzhōng line with mid-Northern-Sòng Shī scholarship.
