Méi Dǐngzuò 梅鼎祚 (1549–1618), zì Yǔjīn 禹金, also recorded with the zì Yànhé 彥和, native of Xuānchéng 宣城 (modern Anhuī). Late-Míng bibliophile, dramatist, and editor; son of the official Méi Shǒudé 梅守德 and elder relation of the great essayist Méi Yáochén’s 梅堯臣 line of the same prefecture. He famously declined an examination career to devote himself to literature and to his library Tiānyì gé 天逸閣. He produced the qū drama Yùhé jì 玉合記, the historical compendium Cáiguǐ jí 才鬼集, and a major series of pre-Táng anthologies — Hàn Wèi shī chéng 漢魏詩乘, Gǔ yuèyuàn 古樂苑, Sìcháo shī jí 四朝詩集, and the substantial editorial achievement Wénjì lù 文紀錄 (collecting prose by period from antiquity through the Liùcháo). In this Sòng-collection context he is the editor responsible for assembling Wú Qián’s 吳潛 Lǚzhāi yígǎo 履齋遺稿 KR4d0330, which the Sìkù tíyào judges to be a careful — if at points imperfect — Míng reconstruction of a now-lost Sòng original.
