Northern-Sòng Hànlín xuéshì and central figure of the XīKūn tǐ 西崑體, Dànián 大年, of Pǔchéng 浦城 (Fújiàn). A child prodigy: summoned to court at age 11 by Sòng Tàizōng and granted jìnshì status; entered Hànlín in Jǐngdé 3 / 1006. Co-compiler (with Wáng Qīnruò 王欽若 and others) of the encyclopedic Cèfǔ yuánguī 冊府元龜 of 1005–1013; his work on this project produced the famous XīKūn chóuchàng jí 西崑酬唱集 of mutually-imitative Lǐ Shāngyǐn-style verse with Liú Yún 劉筠 and Qián Wéiyǎn 錢惟演 — the school that defined early-Sòng court ornamental poetry. Sòngshǐ records seven of his collections (Kuòcāng, Wǔyí, Yǐngyīn, Hánchéng, Tuìjū, Rǔyáng, Péngshān, Guànáo) plus Nèiwàizhì and Dāobǐ; only the Wǔyí xīn jí KR4d0012 survives substantially. Author also of Lìdài quánzhèng yào lüè 歷代銓政要略. The Sìkù tíyào defends him against Shí Jiè’s 石介 Guài jì polemic and against Wú Zhīzhèn’s later Sòng shī chāo exclusion. CBDB id 7097, lifedates 974–1020.
