Early-Míng official, zì Zhìhé 致和, of Quánjiāo 全椒 (Anhui). Joined Zhū Yuánzhāng 朱元璋 in Lóngjiāng (Nánjīng) in Yuán Zhìzhèng 15 (1355) and accompanied the founder through the dynastic foundation. Held senior posts under Hóngwǔ: Bīngbù shàngshū, Hànlín shìjiǎng xuéshì, Yúshǐ dàfū. Died c. Hóngwǔ 15 (1382). The principal-named compiler (alongside Sòng Lián 宋濓, Wāng Guǎngyáng, Chén Níng et al.) of the Hóngwǔ zhèngyùn KR1j0068 (16 juàn) on imperial command in Hóngwǔ 8 (1375) — the new official rhyme-book of the Míng. The book aimed to replace Lù Fǎyán’s 陸法言 Qièyùn lineage (vilified as Wú dialect — actually a confusion with the earlier Shěn Yuē 沈約 work) with a “Central Plain” (Zhōngyuán) rhyme-system, reducing the inherited 206 rhymes to 76 (22+22+22+10) and re-glossing on the basis of Máo Huǎng’s 毛晃 Zēngyùn KR1j0061.
