Late-Qián-lóng / early-Jiā-qìng-era Qīng physician of Fēngshān 楓山 in the Hángzhōu region (Rénhé 仁和 prefecture), identified through Qián Méi’s postface to the KR3er095 Yīxué sānxìn biān 醫學三信編 as Máo’s elderly neighbour-physician. He produced two documented works: the formulary Yǎngshēng jīngyàn héjí 養生經驗合集 (compiled earlier in his career) and the doctrinal Yīxué sānxìn biān (composed when over eighty, postfaced by 錢枚 Qián Méi who died in 1804). Máo’s medical position is a Qiánlóng Chinese parallel to the contemporary Japanese kohō-ha return to pre-Sòng sources: a gǔfāng 古方 / gǔfǎ 古法 emphasis grounded in the Sùwèn and the Chángshā 長沙 [Zhòngjǐng] formulary.
