Fǎjiè 法界 (late Tang)

Late-Tang Chinese pilgrim-monk who travelled to Central India, procured a Sanskrit manuscript of the Daśabhūmika-sūtra, and on his return invited the Khotanese Tripiṭaka 尸羅達摩 Śīladharma to translate it at the Lóngxīng-sì 龍興寺 in Běi-tíng 北庭 (Beš-baliq, modern Jimsar in Xinjiang). The translation, undertaken c. 789–798 CE in the reign of Tang Dézōng 德宗, survives as [[KR6e0035|Fó shuō shí dì jīng 佛說十地經]] (T0287). Distinct from the Eastern Jìn pilgrim Fǎxiǎn 法顯 (c. 337–c. 422), the Northern Sòng translator 法賢 Fǎxián (d. 1001), and the Huáyán figure Fǎ-jiè (法界) sometimes invoked as a personification of the Dharma-realm.
