Southern-Sòng Huáyán scholar-monk; author of KR6i0561 Yuánjué jīng shūchāo suíwén yàojiě 圓覺經疏鈔隨文要解 (X10 no. 250, 12 fascicles), a substantial line-by-line explication of 宗密 Guīfēng Zōngmì’s Lüèshū and Lüèshū chāo on the Yuánjué jīng. His autograph preface, preserved at the head of the work, is dated 皇宋嘉定六年 = 1213 CE (Sòng Níngzōng’s Jiādìng 6); on the basis of that preface his active period bracket may be set at circa 1180–1213. The catalog meta-record (data/catalogs/meta/KR6i.yaml) assigns him to the Yuán 元 dynasty, but the internal preface evidence is decisive for southern-Sòng dating; the dynasty field is therefore corrected to 宋 here. Qīngyuǎn is otherwise undocumented in standard Buddhological reference works; lifedates and biographical details unknown.

He is to be carefully distinguished from the homonymous early-Sòng LínjìChán master Lóngxīng Fóhǎi Qīngyuǎn 隆興佛海清遠 (1067–1120), of the Yangqi line, with whom he shares the name only.
