Chéngyù 澄彧
Early Northern-Sòng Tiāntái-affiliated monk active at Wúshān 吳山 (in present-day Hángzhōu 杭州). Lifedates not recorded; he is known almost exclusively as the annotator of the Zhù shíyí lùn 注十疑論 KR6p0051 — his commentary on the Jìngtǔ shíyí lùn 淨土十疑論 attributed to 智顗 Zhìyǐ. The text is prefaced by 贊寧 Zànníng (919–1001), whose preface is dated 太平興國 8 (983), fixing Chéngyù’s floruit firmly in the WúYuè / early-Sòng transition. Zànníng’s preface refers to him reverentially as Wúshān Chéngyù shàngrén 吳山澄彧上人. No further prosopographical information has been recovered from Sòng-period biographical sources.
