Wáng Zhìdào 王志道 (1574–1646), zì Érhóng 而宏, hào Dōnglǐ 東里; native of Zhāngpǔ 漳浦 (Zhāngzhōu prefecture, Fújiàn). Jǔrén of Wànlì 34 / bǐngwǔ (1606), jìnshì of Wànlì 41 / guǐchǒu (1613); appointed Dānyáng zhīxiàn. Rose to Lǐkē jǐshìzhōng (1621) and Bīngkē yòu jǐshìzhōng (1622), then retired to care for aged parents after his discussion of the sānàn (three cases) was rebutted by Gāo Pānlóng 高攀龍. Recalled in Chóngzhēn 1 / 1628 as Zuǒ tōngzhèng; rose to Dàlǐ yòu shàoqīng and Zuǒ fù dū yùshǐ. Stripped of office after his memorial in defence of Chén Yútài 陳于泰 against the Xuānfǔ supervising eunuch Wáng Kūn 王坤 angered the throne. Under the Southern-Míng Hóngguāng régime, Hùbù yòu shìláng; under the Lóngwǔ (Tángwáng) régime, Lìbù zuǒ shìláng. Died at home in the fourth month of bǐngxū (= 1646) aged 73. His preface to 施邦曜’s Yángmíng xiānshēng jí yào (KR4e0245) is dated Chóngzhēn yǐhài 7th month, yǐmǎo day = 1635, signing himself MǐnZhāng hòuxué Wáng Zhìdào. CBDB 101221.
