Qiú 球 (full surname unrecovered, hào Gōu-Wú būrén 勾吳逋人 “the recluse of Gōu-Wú”, fl. mid-Qián-lóng era), Qīng-period physician-editor of the Zhōu Shènzhāi yíshū 周慎齋遺書 (KR3er004). Qiú’s editor’s preface, signed Gōu-Wú būrén shū yú Xuéyì cǎolú 勾吳逋人書於學易草廬 (“the recluse of Gōu-Wú writes in his Studio of Studying the ”), is dated yǐyǒu shēnyuè 乙酉申月 (most plausibly the seventh month of 1765 = Qiánlóng 30, on the basis of internal consistency with the Wáng Zhuóyá / Zhào Shùyuán publication chronology of 1774). Qiú reports that he began medical study at fourteen, devoted nearly thirty years to clinical practice, and produced commentaries on the Yìjīng (now lost) and the Jīnguì yùhán jīng jiě 金匱玉函經解 (also lost) before turning to the editorial recension of Zhōu Shènzhāi’s clinical doctrine that he framed as a wing-appendix (翼) to Zhāng Zhòngjǐng’s Jīnguì. Qiú’s surname is not recovered from the source. The single-character given-name follows the source: “勾吳逋人名球者” — “the recluse of Gōu-Wú, named Qiú”.
