Fàn Pèng 范梈 (1272–1330), zì Hēngfù 亨父, also Déjī 德機, native of Qīngjiāng 清江 (modern Jiāngxī). One of the Yuánshī sìdàjiā 元詩四大家 (“Four Great Masters of Yuán poetry”) together with Yú Jí 虞集, Yáng Zài 楊載, and Jiē Xīsī 揭傒斯. Entered office by recommendation as Zuǒwèi jiàoshòu, then promoted to Hànlín biānxiūguān, later serving as zhàomó in the Lǐnghǎi liánfǎngsī and successively in Jiāngxī and Húdōng circuits; selected as Hànlín yìngfèng and then Mǐnhǎidào zhīshì in Fújiàn, where he memorialized successfully against the Wénxiùjú’s seizure of women as embroidery workers. In Tiānlì 2 (1329) appointed Húnán Lǐngběidào liánfǎngsī jīnglì but declined to take up the post on account of his elderly mother; she died the following year and Fàn died of grief in mourning. His collected works survive in the 7-juǎn recension Fàn Déjī shījí KR4d0496. Twelve juǎn of separate poetic gǎo (Yānrán, Dōngfāng, Yùzhāng, Hòuguān, Jiāngxià, Bǎizhàng) are recorded in his Yuánshǐ j. 181 biography; their merging into the present 7-juǎn recension is of unknown editorial origin.
