Wàn Quán 萬全 (1499–1582), zì Shìjuǎn 事卷 (in some sources 事權), hào Mìzhāi 密齋 (by which he is universally known: Wàn Mìzhāi 萬密齋), was a major mid-Míng paediatrician and general physician of Luótián 羅田 (Húběi, modern E-zhōu), bearer of the principal Míng-period Wàn-family medical lineage. His grandfather Wàn Lán 萬蘭 and father Wàn Xiǎozhāi 萬筱齋 were renowned local paediatricians; Wàn Quán continued and substantially expanded the family practice, becoming one of the foremost specialists in paediatrics, gynaecology, and family medicine of the mid-Míng. His cóngshū 《萬密齋醫書十種》 (Ten Works of Wàn Mìzhāi) includes the Yòu kē fā huī 幼科發揮, Bǎo yīng zī yāo 保嬰擇要, Fù rén kē 婦人科 (gynaecology), Yǎng shēng sì yào 養生四要, and the Shānghán zhāi jǐn 傷寒摘錦 (KR3ef071, 2 juan), a clinically-organized digest of the Shānghán canon for general practitioners. He died at Luótián in 1582, aged 83. The Wàn-family lineage continued through Wàn Quán’s descendants for several more generations and is one of the principal documented MíngQīng family medical practices.
