Dǒng Fèng 董奉

Three-Kingdoms-period physician of Hóuguān 侯官 (modern Fúzhōu 福州, Fújiàn), Jūnyì 君異; together with 華佗 Huà Tuó and 張仲景 Zhāng Zhòngjǐng one of the Jiàn’ān sān shényī 建安三神醫 (Three Divine Physicians of Jiàn’ān). According to the Shénxiānzhuàn 神仙傳 he treated patients in Lúshān 廬山 free of charge, asking only that those cured plant apricot trees in his orchard — origin of the proverbial expression xìnglín 杏林 (apricot grove) for the medical profession.
