The work covers the aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, and treatment of fúwēn 伏瘟 (latent-plague) — a sub-category of fúqì 伏氣 latent-pathogen warm disease — and contains both clinical case material and doctrinal polemic, including (the Zhōng yī cí diǎn notes) a “one-sidedly disparaging” attitude toward Western medicine.
