Early-Yuán Daoist master of Lúshān 廬山 (Jiāngxī), hào Xiānwēng 仙翁 (“Immortal Elder”), holder of the Shàngqīng dàdòng bǎolù 上清大洞寶籙 register and presiding officer of the Xiānléi tán 顯雷壇 (“Altar for the Manifestation of Thunder”). Known principally as the author of Yuánshǐ wúliàng dùrén shàngpǐn miàojīng zhùjiě 元始無量度人上品妙經註解 (DZ 93, presented 1303/1304, postfaces through 1316) — a deliberately accessible commentary on the Dùrén jīng intended for religious novices. Xuē was a spiritual heir of Léi Mò’ān 雷默庵 (on whom see [[KR5a0297|DZ 297 Lìshì zhēnxiān tǐdào tōngjiàn xùbiān 5.11b–14a]]), from whom he received a dream-revelation at the Thunder Altar in 1308, and who registered his name in the Shénxiāo 神霄 celestial offices as a Dùrénjīng exegete “equal in merit” to himself. Xuē was subsequently granted a further revelation by the divine Clerk of the Thunder Clap Xīn Zhōngyì 辛仲義, from whom he received the “heart-seal transmission.” No CBDB record exists. Xuē’s commentary is the canonical “simple” Dùrénjīng commentary — stripped of esoteric and bureaucratic readings — and was subsequently heavily cited by Chén Zhìxū (DZ 92) and Zhāng Yǔchū (DZ 89).
