Xǔ Hàn 許翰 (d. Shàoxīng 3 / 1133), zì Sōnglǎo 崧老, of Gǒngzhōu 拱州 Xiāngyì 襄邑 (Hénán). Jìnshì of Yuányòu 3 / 1088. Held office twice as Jǐshìzhōng under Huīzōng and Qīnzōng; at the start of Qīnzōng’s reign (1126) made Tóng zhī Shūmìyuàn shì; due to disagreement with the cabinet, withdrew. After the southern crossing (Gāozōng’s accession), summoned as Shàngshū yòuchéng jiān quán Ménxià shìláng (concurrent acting Vice-Director of the Chancellery); requested gōngcí (temple-administration) and returned home. Remembered for his consistent advocacy of military preparedness against the Jurchen — his xiè (memorial) advising Cài Jīng Bǎixìng kùnbì, qǐ wéi dàozéi (“the people are exhausted, rising as outlaws”) preserved in the Sòng shǐ Shíhuòzhì — and his support of Lǐ Gāng 李綱 李綱 under Gāozōng.
